Academic Hall of Fame
Date of Induction October 1, 2017
Tamara was a member of the Delaware Valley High School Class of 1978. She was president of the school’s National Honor Society, 1977-78, was a member of the gymnastics team for all four years, and was a recipient of the Port Jervis Rotary Scholarship for attaining top academic ranking in her junior year.
Following high school, Tamara attended Smith College, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in Economics and German Civilization. In her third year she studied at the University of Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany. She was awarded a Scholarship for Continuing Education by the Federation of Women’s Clubs Overseas, earning a certificate for fundraising at NYU Heyman School of Philanthropy.
Upon graduation in 1982, she entered a training program at Drexel, Burnham, Lambert, following which she joined Urban General, in Fairfield, NJ, where she became a director of post sales, excelling in marketing practices.
In 1984, Tamara moved to radio marketing and syndication, joining NYC-Based Radio International, an organization representing radio shows in the United Kingdom. Soon she became their marketing partner and sponsorship director. This experience eventually led her to form a partnership that developed into a branch of her own syndication of broadcasting to worldwide radio stations, which included Europe and the Middle East. In 1990, her company became the top international radio syndicator. Eventually this successful enterprise began to include top European charity concerts, such as Live Aid for Ethiopia and the Nelson Mandela Apartheid Efforts.
Her next business venture took her to Marcor Production in Marketing and Production, based in Monaco. From 2003-07, she was involved with such enterprises as Amusego, becoming its independent planning and management contractor in Paris, France, and Amuse Girl, a women’s interest targeted event company.
Tamara moved to Abu Dhabi in 2009-10, serving as Top Marques Director of Business Development for the Middle East.
In 2008, she turned her attention to humanitarian interests. From that time to the present, she has championed the Nepal Orphans Home, Kathmandu, Nepal, attending to the welfare of orphaned children, giving them opportunities to develop and realize their potential. She was appointed to the Board of Directors at the Chelsea Vocational Center Volunteer and Service and is their Service Project Spearhead Organizer. Her efforts on behalf of NOH have raised not only money, but awareness of the plight of these deserving children.
Currently, Tamara is executive director of Safe Haven of Pike County, whose mission is to eradicate domestic violence, sexual assault and other serious crimes through the prevention, empowerment and promotion of social justice.
