Mike Hoey was a member of the Class of 1991 of Delaware Valley High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball. An honored baseball player he was an athlete of the month, won the batting title in 1991, batting .508, was named NAC All Conference for three years (1989, 1990 and 1991) and was NAC Player of the Year in 1990. The Scranton Times named him to its All Regional Team in 1990. He first attended Seton Hall University but left after sustaining an injury and finished his baseball career at Eat Stroudsburg University earning three varsity letters. Since graduation he has served as a physical education instructor and baseball coach in Rupert, Idaho where his teams have made it to the final four for consecutive years.
