Career and Technical Education (CTE)Early Childhood Education - ESU VisitMrs. Pavinich's Early Childhood Education class spent the day at ESU as part of the Aspiring Educators Pathway Project. They interacted with students from other districts as well as current ESU students majoring in education. They participated in roundtable discussions and team building activities. They even met with two former DV ECE students who are ESU Ambassadors in the AEPP program!Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)Community Holiday DinnerFCCLA club members Caterina Catizone, Toni Ann Vilord, and Sara Gagnon hosted a Community Holiday Dinner on Sunday, December 8. This event showed off their skills in event management, planning, and community service which is part of their FCCLA competition category. The girls did a wonderful job combining community engagement with a meaningful cause. Attendees were asked to bring an unwrapped gift which was donated to Toys For Tots.Pennsylvania Youth Education Association (PYEA)Aspiring Educators Pathway ProjectStudents in PYEA, along with adviser Mr. Cotroneo, spent the day at Northampton Community College as part of the Aspiring Educators Pathway Project. They interacted with a student from Nazareth School District, met department faculty, were involved in discussions, participated in a college class and an activity planned for them by education majors, observed the early childhood classrooms, learned about the coursework and requirements, and toured campus.TechnologyNextLVL Guest SpeakersOn November 8th, guest speakers from NextLVL came to talk to a group of DVHS students about the Audio/Visual (A/V) industry. Students who attended the session were able to interact with some of the innovative, non-traditional technology that the company programs/installs all over the country. Students were engaged and had a productive Q&A with the two speakers about college careers, possible job offerings, the growing need for people who know how to use technology, and much more.Science DepartmentDNA CandyStudents Mrs. Giordano and Mrs. Lee's Biology class created DNA candy models to enhance their understanding.Art DepartmentAnnual Art Show at Wallkill Valley Regional HSOn Tuesday, December 10th, the Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of the National Art Honor Society hosted the 15th Annual Art Show, showcasing the talents of students from 10 local high schools. The event featured a collection of 150 works of art, ranging from paintings and sculptures to photography and mixed media. Representatives from art colleges and programs, including Peter's Valley School of Craft, Savannah College of Art and Design, Moore College of Art and Design, and Hartford College, judged the works and awarded scholarships to the top winners in each category.Delaware Valley earned 3 of the first place ribbons:
- Rex Simpson in the fine crafts category for his jewelry piece, Bound Orb.
- Abbeygale Hahn in the digital media category for her self portrait.
- Maya Zhivkovich earned first place in the painting category for her oil painting, “Grief, a Mother’s Embrace.” In addition to this incredible achievement, Maya has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for their Summer Pre-College Program!
Model UNMock Constitutional ConventionOn Friday, the Model UN Club traveled to Pennsylvania College of Technology to participate in a mock Constitutional Convention. Congratulations to Bennett Nielsen, Chris Fleming, Olivia VanTassell, Dom Agron, Queenie Yang, Mia Thompson, and Jackson Hancock on being awarded Outstanding Delegate. Also, congratulations to Mia Thompson, Bennett Nielsen, Owen Carso, Isabella Hemler, Dom Agron, Grant Nielsen, Max Hancock, and Queenie Yang on winning best delegation.DV DramaWinter ShowcaseDV Drama club held a Winter showcase and Pictures with Santa event on Saturday, December 14th. This event was geared toward families with young children and featured festive songs, craft tables, holiday treats, and Santa himself. The show was fully conceived and directed by seniors Abby Chudoba and Jasmine Lucente who transformed our auditorium into a Winter Wonderland. Next up, The Crucible-- January 17th and 18th.Student of the MonthNovember 2024Delaware Valley High School has selected the November Students of the Month. These students have shown exceptional academic, vocational or athletic performance during the month of November and are being recognized by the staff and administrators of the school. Vidhi Patel was voted into office as the 2025-26 Region 22 President and Ava Troup was voted into office as a Region 22 Vice President. 35 FBLA members have qualified for state competition in Hershey, PA in April. State only competitive event results will be announced at the end of January.
