    Mock Trial

Mock Trial is team trials advocacy competition in which students assume the roles of attorneys and witnesses and engage in trial simulation competitions with teams from other schools.  Students develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, as well as knowledge of legal practices and procedures. The American Mock Trial Association sponsors regional and national-level competitions, as well as providing interesting and complex case materials for academic use. Also, a local member of the Bar Association comes to the meeting weekly to help the teams prepare for their cases. The students have two court cases the first on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and the other in mid-winter after school at the Monroe County Courthouse in Stroudsburg, PA. Winners go on to state and national competitions. All high school students are welcome to attend. This club schedule is flexible in order to meet the students after school needs. We do meet at least 5 hours each week. Advisors: Mrs. Henigan ext. 7044 and Mr. Gelderman ext. 7090
