Warriors Shine at 2024 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals

       

Delaware Valley School District had an outstanding showing at the 2024 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals competition! Five state champion teams traveled to Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in May to compete among nearly 700 teams from around the globe. All five teams placed in the top 10 for their problems and divisions, and one was crowned World Champions! The entire state of PA had a total of 12 teams place in the top 6, and Delaware Valley alone had 4 of them!

 

The Delaware Valley Middle School technical team came in 1st place out of 43 teams to become the 2024 Odyssey of the Mind Problem 2 World Champions in Division II for “AI Tech-NO-Art”. Congratulations to Beau Tannenbaum, Brooke Nielsen, Clare Barcia, Christopher Miller, Patty Chen, Ariel Weyant, Michael Simmons and coach Lauren Lockwood.

 

The Delaware Valley High School structure team held 1210 pounds on a 15-gram balsa wood structure (that’s equivalent to the weight of 3 nickels!) and came in 2nd place out of 36 teams in Division III for “Deep Space Structure”. Congratulations to Ben Bailor, Karter Peereboom, Abby Zimmerman, Christa Cirello, Emma Allen, Angelica Barcia, Connor Giblin, and coach Terry Balton.

 

The Delaware Valley Elementary School Technical team came in 4th place out of 45 teams in Division I for “AI Tech-NO-Art”. Congratulations to Adelyn Gamer, Maeve Kaiser, Bradley Gaa, Keston Monahan, Kate Montgomery, Juliette Antolino, Tiegon Monahan, and coach Tammy Curtis.

 

The Delaware Valley Elementary School Structure team held 820 pounds on their balsa wood structure and came in 4th place out of 46 teams in Division I for “Deep Space Structure”. Congratulations to Dominic DeLauro, Jovey Thiele, Mia Pavinich, Rachel Pflanz, Jayce Jacobs, Christian Pirl, Owen Pavinich, and coaches Sarah Casey and Chuck Pike.

 

The Delaware Valley High School performance team competed in “Rocking World Detour” and came in 10th place in the world for Division III. Congratulations to Liv Rowehl, Roxy Cauchi, Nick Colavito, Matthew Schweitzer, Addison Domanico, Bailey Ryan, Brooke Natter, and coach Joe Ziolkowski.

 

Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving competition for students which requires a tremendous amount of dedication and commitment and fosters teamwork and out of the box thinking. These students spent countless hours working together for months to solve their long-term problems and sharpen their spontaneous thinking skills.
