Fred Schneck was a member of the Delaware Valley High School Class of 1969. His athletic career stands as an example of the joy of participating in a variety of sports and excelling at all. A high school soccer player, wrestler, volleyball player, and runner, he planted the seeds for a lifelong participation in sports as a competitor and coach. A two-time district champ in wrestling and a member of 3 league championship teams in soccer, Mr. Schneck had a rich high school career. He then attended East Stroudsburg State College where he was on the soccer, wrestling, and track teams. After college, he was the assistant wrestling coach at Bethlehem Catholic high School where teams won 4 league, 3 district, and 1 state championship. He continues to coach in the Bethlehem Soccer Club where he also serves as a director. Individually, he has excelled as a distance runner. He ran in the Boston Marathon for 20 consecutive years, placing 25th in 1985. He also won the Philadelphia Fairmont Park Marathon in 1987 and placed 13th in the Masters division on the Boston Marathon. He won 9 gold medals, 3 silver, and 1 bronze in the Keystone State Games as a Masters Competitor in distance running. He continues to live and work in the Lehigh Valley.
