PTA President’s Report
September - 2007

Hi, Everyone!  Welcome Back.

As my first year as being PTA president, the outpouring of our

membership drive overwhelms me. As of September 25, 2007, we have over 150 members. Many of you are still handing in your applications. Thank You! Keep sending them in. Even if you are unsure of joining, the money, $3.50, goes towards national and state PTA dues. We only receive $1.50 for DVES-PTA. This money will go towards many events and activities we provide to our children. Just by joining, you are showing your support of many activities/events we have scheduled.

Our first PTA meeting was held on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 in our cafeteria. It was well attended.

Thank you for all the members chairing our events and committees for this coming year. Without your time and energy, our events could not happen.

We have only 2 fundraisers planned for this year. They, too, go towards many events we sponsor. The first one is QSP-which will be starting in early October. There are a variety of items to choose from. Remember, we do NOT want our children selling door to door. I'm sure many friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors would love to purchase items from your child.

The other fundraiser is scheduled for the spring of 2008. This is the Gertrude Hawk  candy. The name stands for itself.

Picture day is October 3rd and 4th. I'm sure all children will be grinning ear to ear for this occasion.

Our first Family Fun Night is anticipated for Friday, October 5, 2007. This is our Candy Bar Bingo. Mr. and Mrs. Bell are chairing this. This is always a very successful evening. Candy bars will be available.

The Reflection contest information will be coming. There are a variety of categories for your child to participate in. There are many levels of judging also. Look for the flyer coming soon.

Our Storybook Parade will be on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 2:50pm. This event is always well attended. Please do not come before 2:50pm because of parking.

School Safety Week will be the week of October 8, 2007. Many activities will be happening. The Westfall Fire Department, Westfall Police Department, Milford Ambulance, Survivors Resources, and a School Bus Driver presentation by Fran Rosario are a few sponsors who will help children to remember to be safe.

Red Ribbon Week is the week of October 22, 2007. Everyone needs a reminder of what red ribbons mean. Ask your child; they will tell you.

Promo Gear clothing, etc., should be coming home also sometime in October.

Now that I gave you enough event/activities for the up-coming month, I will close. If you have joined PTA-thank you. If you are planning on it, please send in your application. We will take them until late November. We do offer an

extensive event/activities list (just for the month of October). Thank you for your consideration. You are all making DVES a magic place. Thanks for all of your help.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Tammy Moglia
DVES-PTA President
