Principal’s
Report
December - 2007
- The
Third Grade Concert was presented on November 7, 2007.
Under the direction of Choral Director, Kim Golden, the third grade
presented “Lights, Camera, Action".
Miss Golden tries to make each concert a little different from the
last.
- Our
students and staff spent a wonderful week with veterans this month.
More than a dozen veterans were invited to our school as part of an
overall salute to veterans. In
addition, all of the students in the school also made cards of thanks for
veterans.
- Mrs.
Mang’s sixth grade class produced a beautiful musical DVD.
Everyone in Mrs. Gray’s sixth grade class wrote a letter to a
veteran. To read these letters,
go to our website and click on “News”.
Students in Miss Chudoba’s kindergarten class celebrated Thanksgiving by
having a Thanksgiving Harvest. Children
were the Indians and they came to the harvest in their canoes with Indian
necklaces and headdresses. This
helps to develop an understanding of the first Thanksgiving.
Parent/Teacher conferences were well attended on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. Well over 95% attended conferences.
Four percent either met at another time or spoke to the child’s
teacher via telephone.
The PTA held their annual book fair during Parent/Teacher Conferences. The students had a chance to preview the books prior to
the sale and brought their lists to parents as gift ideas.
- Judy
Fitzpatrick’s third grade class sponsored their annual bake sale to aid
the Food Pantry in Milford. The
Food Pantry helps needy families throughout our area.
This was held on Parent Teacher Conference Day.
The students practiced counting money and making change the week
before the big event. They asked everyone in the school to bake and the
response was heartening. A
total of $634.65 was sent to the food pantry.
A gingerbread house was raffled to help raise money for the food
pantry. The children had fun
running the bake sale and felt good about helping others!
OM tryouts were held on November 9th.
We will have two teams representing Delaware Valley Elementary
School; Techno and Vehicle team.
- The
PTA sponsored their annual Reflections contest.
Those students who won on the elementary school level have been sent
on to compete at the Council level.
