Principal’s Report
January - 2008

The PTA held its’ annual Holiday Gift Shop.  Children were invited to come and purchase inexpensive gifts for their family and friends.  Lunch and snacks were served.  Santa visited and pictures were taken with Santa.  Many families came and shared a great day of fun.  This even was a big success for the PTA.

Teachers attended district video conferences held at Media Center.

Many of our students are still involved with the various after school clubs.  Quilting and Jeopardy have been added as new clubs.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters started at our school during the month December.  Students come from the high school that are paired with students from the Elementary School.  They meet on Friday afternoons until 5:45.  Students spend time with each other playing games, making drawings and enjoying snacks after school.

Our OM teams have been formed and they have already been busy.  We have 2 teams this year and look forward to seeing them succeed in competition.

We welcomed board members Ed Silverstone and Diane French for a tour of our building.

Grade level meetings were held for all grades with the focus on PSSA prep and other testing.

The staff of Delaware Valley Elementary served dinner to approximately 27 families, well over 120 people on Thursday, December 20th.  With assistance from the high school honor society and the Varsity Basketball, student gifts were obtained for the children.  Santa made an appearance to distribute the gifts.  With the donation of nonperishable goods from our students and staff, we provided many families with a happier holiday.  The “crew” of the elementary school did a marvelous job serving baked ham with the trimmings.  We are indebted to the retired staff members and our current ones who continue to give us a hand.  The variety of gifts was wonderful and we thank everyone for their generosity.  The parents and children left filled with lots of holiday cheer.

The first and second grade students both held their annual concerts during the month of December.  This was done under the direction of Choral Director, Kim Golden.  The children performed to a packed gym of over 300 family members and friends each night.  It is truly amazing how well the students perform and it is a credit to Kim and her students.

During the week before our winter break, holiday songs were sung in the morning.  The orchestra, band, ensemble, chorus, children and faculty presented an assembly for school.

Fire Drill 12/4/07 79 seconds.

Library Circulation for the month of December – 6,239.
