Principal’s
Report
September - 2007
- The
school year started off very well.
With the hard work of a dedicated staff, our school was ready and
appropriately decorated for an exciting opening day.
The floors looked great and brought an added brightness to the
hallways for the returning students.
- Students
arrived bearing lots of smiles, enthusiasm and energy for all that the new
year will bring.
- Our
new school year has been an exciting adventure for the students and staff.
They are following the DV Five very well and are being kind and
considerate.
We shared the DV Five and cafeteria and playground rules with the
students and parents with our summer letter.
Each child was required to bring back a form signed by the child and
a responsible adult in the household.
This assures us that everyone understands the rules and will abide by
them.
- Bus
dismissal went well.
We have a bus card system that is based both on numbers and colors.
This is to enable all styles of learners to easily distinguish the
bus to which they are assigned.
The children were very cooperative and dismissals have gone smoothly.
- SCAMP
was a total success.
Under the commendable leadership of Sarah Casey, we had over 700
slots filled during the summer. Approximately
175 students attended all or parts of SCAMP.
Our enrollment increased as the summer went on because the children
were excited about attending.
We are deeply thankful for the strong support our PTA has given this
program and for the awesome staff that worked.
- We
greet the following staff members who are new to our school:
Tammy Curtis, and Paige Padget fifth grade; Janelle Mang, sixth
grade; and Tammy Phipps, Instructional Assistant.
- Students
at Delaware Valley Elementary School are enjoying spending time together
over breakfast this year.
A breakfast program was implemented district-wide this school year.
This program has been a hit at DVES.
Not only are students enjoying a healthy, affordable and filling
breakfast, but also a little extra time spent with their friends.
What a great way to start the day!
- Students
who “looped” to fourth grade with Miss Casey didn’t miss a beat when
they came back after their summer vacation.
- PSSA
test scores are being celebrated.
Sixth Grade Students will be invited to a Celebration of the Tests
Pizza Party.
We will be doing an assembly to honor the students as well as a few
games and pizza.
The underlying motive here is to rev up our current students for
raising their scores this year.
Likewise, there will be celebrations for last year’s third and
fourth grades.
