Mrs. Cole's Corner

Hi, Everyone,

I am glad to share the message that our school opening was sheer pleasure.  The children have been showing me what awesome people they really are.

PSSA tests are back and are in the mail to parents.  I wrote a letter of explanation with the results but if you still have questions call your child’s teacher.

Clubs have started for third through sixth graders.  We can always use parents to volunteer to help run our clubs.  You can do simple things like board games or more advanced things like scrap booking.  Kids like anything and it is sad  when we have to turn them away because we do not have enough clubs to meet the demands.  Our clubs run from 3:40-5:00 so if you can, please help us out.  (Yes, I am open for younger  children having clubs if we have enough parent volunteers.

We have a HUGE need for OM coaches.  In the past we have had three sets of coaches.  This year we have NONE.  OM is a competition and there are try-outs to be on a team.  If a parent volunteers, of course they get their child.  OM will be run for 5th and 6th graders if we have some coaches.  We will run 4th and 5th grades, again if we get coaches.  This is a paying position but the time commitment is tough.  You begin meeting once a week and move up to many days prior to the competition in March.  If your team wins regions, then they continue to move to state and finally world competition.  Its great fun and hard work but if you get hooked, it will be a highlight for you.

October brings us a special treat.  Mt. Laurel Center for the Arts is providing us with an outstanding lecture demonstration by the Alvin Ailey Dance Troop from New York.  This is a world renowned group of dancers and I am honored to host them at our elementary school.

Love,
Mrs. Cole
