Mrs. Cole’s Corner

Happy spring!

I love spring because of all of the flowers and trees bursting with new life.  My trip here and home is about an hour and 209 is the epitome of the signs of the changing seasons.  Our children, too, are showing signs of the changing seasons.  The clothing is getting lighter and brighter.  They are delighted to be outside and have lots of tales about their fun “last night”!  They are happier and healthier.

On the line of healthy, we had several children who participated in the 3K.  Pretty impressive, I’d say.  I see a lot of kids in our walking clubs, again a good sign.  Yes, we are aware of the need for physical activity in our children’s lives and many parents are joining the fun.  Get out those bikes and do some riding with your children.  Take some walks. Visit the National Park which offers miles of good trails and beautiful waterfalls.  There is nothing quite like visiting the Park’s waterfalls in the spring when the water just cascades off those cliffs.  My grandchildren are thrilled to go to Dingmans’ Falls and Child’s Park and I know your children would love it, too.

The eagles have returned and I can see a mother sitting on a nest near Bushkill.  I stopped many days last year to see her and the babies.  My granddaughter, McKenna, and I were on our way to SCAMP and had the thrill of having the father eagle fly just a few feet from the car when a red tailed hawk was trying to get his lunch of a young eaglet.  The hawk is a frequent “flyer” near the old Eschbach Farm.  He is often watching high above the fields for his next lunch.

As you can see, “the road” has become part of my life, as is Delaware Valley Elementary School.  I will make a real effort to continue to visit both next year.

Hope to see you all at the Mothers’ Day Breakfast on the 11th at the Legion from 8-12, and at the Yard Sale and Tricky Tray on the 17th.

  Sincerely, Mrs. Cole
