DVE-News consists of a special group of sixth graders from our Delaware Valley Elementary School that stay after school to write and publish our monthly school newsletter, The Smile-O Gram.
All reporters stay once a week on their team's night and are picked up at 4:55 PM. These teams are coached by Mrs. Banach and Mrs. Siegel.
DVE-News reporters help to plan the stories that we will cover for the month, and they choose which stories they will write. Then they gather the facts and information they need for their story, and they type and print it. Their stories focus on school news, student stories and poems, and activities that have occurred or are coming up. They also participate in special projects, such as writing to enlisted men and women, entering writing contests, and submitting stories to local news media.
DVE-News was started in 1987 by principal, Sonya K. Cole, as a way to get school news out to the parents and community and to give students who like to write an opportunity to share their work.
