Delaware Valley Elementary School has two after-school Computer Clubs, one for fifth graders and one for sixth graders.

Each club meets right after school, until 4:55 PM.  Fifth grade meets each Monday with Mrs. Teri Banach.  Sixth grade meets each Friday with Mrs. Sharon Siegel.

Club members work on designing and maintaining the DVES Web Page, managing their files, learning how to maintain computers and do basic troubleshooting, cleaning computers and computer-related equipment, navigating the Internet, exploring educational Web Sites, and working with various programs including a word processor, data base, and spreadsheet. Club members also explore web sites that have been recommended for kids and pass good site suggestions and computer information to others.

Sometimes broken computer parts are donated to the club and students take them apart to see what some of the internal parts are and how they are put together. This is something the students really enjoy.

Students also do a lot of typing, taking all of the last names out of the Smile-O Gram before putting the newspaper on the DVES Web Site. They work with scanners and a digital cameras to get the Author and Artists of the Month projects ready for the page and printed to post in the schoolThey then post them on the web and in the front hall.  They also enter writing contests in which they use their computer skills to choose various formatting, fonts, colors, clipart, etc., and they write letters to soldiers and other special role models.
