The
DVHS Science Olympiad team is an after school activity designed to increase
student interest in science and provide recognition for outstanding
achievement in science education. The team is open to students in grades
9-12. Students meet once a week from October to March.
The
students compete in regional, state, and national tournaments that consist
of a series of individual and team events which students prepare
for during the year. These challenging events are balanced between the
various disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers
and technology. In addition, there is also a balance between events requiring
knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills, and science
applications.
