The name "Junior Historians" can be a misleading name.
The image most people get is a group of students sitting around talking
about history. In actuality, the Jr. Historians are involved social
work and community service.
In the fall, the Junior Historians work at a local kitchen that
holds a Thanksgiving dinner. Along with serving, there is
prep
work
and clean-up
to be done. For Christmas, the group volunteers at a local Salvation
Army. Here, they hand out bags of toys assigned to different families
and bags of food containing a typical Christmas dinner. Periodically
through the year the Junior Historians send boxes of toys, clothes,
medicine, etc. to an organization for the needy located in Mississippi.
