Science 7

This course is designed to introduce students to the world of living things, such as plants, animals, and microorganisms. Students participate in a variety of activities, many hands-on, that are designed for conducting experiments, problem solving, and obtaining an understanding of the living world around us. Student assessment is achieved through tests, quizzes, projects, labs, and classroom and/or take-home activities.

 

Science 8

The eighth grade science course focuses on basic of physical science and chemistry. In this hands-on course, students develop science process skills as well as critical thinking skills. Assessments is based in tests, labs, projects, reports, demonstrations, and other applicable devices. Students utilize technology in preparing presentations, labs, reports and other assignments.

 

Honors Earth Science 8

This course will introduce highly motivated, mathematically proficient students to the discipline of Earth Science. Topics will be discussed in greater depth and at a faster pace than in a regular section, as mathematics, including Algebra I, will be used. Geology, astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, and environmental issues will be explored. Concepts will be developed using class discussion, critical thinking, and experiments. Students should expect approximately 2 to 3 hours of homework per week.  (Prerequisite: Currently taking Algebra I, and at least a "B+" average in 7th grade science.)
