Social Studies 6

In this survey of world civilizations students learn about the story of humanity from the earliest times to the present. Emphasis is placed on the Ancient near East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation, the Interaction of Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Early Modern Europe. Nationalism, Democracy, Industrialism, and the Twentieth Century World

Social Studies 7A

In the advanced course, students examine three of the social sciences in depth: Political Science, Economics, and Geography. Moreover, current events and careers are explored. Research, writing and oral presentation skills are also homed.

This survey course introduces students to three social sciences: political science, economics, and geography. Students also participate in an exploration of career opportunities.

Social Studies 8A

This advanced course emphasizes writing and research. Students will take an in depth look at Native Americans, the Age of Exploration and Discovery, Colonization, .e Revolutionary War, Confederation to Constitution, Growth of a New Nation, Westward Expansion, and Civil War and Reconstruction. In-depth research, oral presentations, and group discussion will help the students evaluate both primary and secondary sources from these time periods.

Social Studies 8B

This survey course examines the study of American History focusing on the Age of Exploration, Colonization, and Revolutionary America.  Other topics discussed throughout the year are The Rise of a New Nation, Expansionism, and the Civil War. Daily application and current events play a large role in relating theses to the students’ daily lives.
