| Foreign Languages include Spanish, German,
and French, and are available for 7th, and 8th grades.
French ISeventh Grade French I introduces the student to grammatical structures and vocabulary development with an emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Various cultural aspects of the French-speaking world are presented.
French IIEighth Grade French II is an extension of French I which furthers the knowledge of the students grammar, vocabulary, and cultural bases. Listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are expanded and refined. This work is in preparation for the smooth transition into the advanced courses.
German ISeventh Grade German I is an introduction to the written and spoken language of German. Emphasis in German I is placed on building vocabulary, practicing pronunciation, and exploring German ways and customs. Students will learn basic grammatical rules which will enable them to speak in short, but complete sentences. Students will actively practice language skills through reading and writing techniques.
German IIEighth Grade German II is a continuation of German I that expands upon vocabulary and grammatical concepts. Reading, writing, and speaking skills are practiced and improved through a variety of avenues such as dialogues, songs, skits, and writing activities. Students in German II also continue to explore various cultural aspects of Germany and its people.
Spanish ISeventh Grade Spanish I is an exciting and interesting learning tour that puts into place the necessary foundation from which strong, communicative skills can be built. Knowledge of the primary grammatical structures and basic vocabulary will be developed through speaking, writing, listening, and reading in the target language. Students will also gain an appreciation for the similarities and the differences in the Hispanic people through technological projects during the year.
Spanish IIEighth Grade Spanish II is a continuation of Spanish I that extends vocabulary and grammar with the emphasis on improvement of communication skills. More complex grammatical constructions are practiced in a variety of innovative ways in order to refine reading, writing, and listening skills. Students also continue to explore and learn of the similarities and differences between and among the Hispanic people and the rest of the world.
